Here is a super clean 2015 Gibson Midtown Standard in stunning Pelham Blue finish. The guitar was purchased new and put way in its original case ever since. It is now available and still appears like near-new condition. This guitar was made at the Gibson factory in Nashville Tennessee, U.S.A. The Midtown was only made from 2011-2015 and many of those had the dreaded G-force tuners, this one does NOT (yay!) This guitar also features one of the best finishes ever to come out of the Gibson factory: Pelham Blue. It's a super rare color and let's face it: it's by far the most desirable Gibson finish on pretty much anything. Look at the photos carefully-this guitar is in extraordinarily excellent condition. The guitar has been professionally set up and ready to go-it needs nothing. Also, it is 100% original.
The body is super clean and the finish is glossy and beautiful. The heavy metallic Pelham Blue finish looks really nice and shimmers in the light at low angles-see photos. The binding is clean and crisp. If you don't know, the body is basically constructed like a Les Paul with F-holes: It is a chambered mahogany with set-neck construction. The top is pretty mint, as are the sides. There is minimal handling evidence on the backside, looks like polishing cloth lines-difficult to see. The neck joint is solid and an excellent fitment. The neck angle is superb. The truss rod has never even been touched since new.
The neck itself is smooth and super straight. It is a Mahogany construction and has a classic 60's Slim taper profile. The neck measures 1 11/16" wide at the nut. The neck depth measures .815" at the 1st fret and .880" deep at the 12th fret. The back of the neck is also Pelham Blue and shows zero wear. The original Grover tuners function smoothly. The headstock and logo display excellent. The Rosewood fingerboard is super clean and smooth. The binding is in perfect condition as are the dot position markers. The frets appear like-new condition-see photos. It is obvious that this guitar has simply not been played at all. The action is set low for an easy playing experience. The string height currently measures .010" at the 1st fret and .050" at the 12th fret. It plays like butter with no dead spots and no fret buzz whatsoever. If you prefer a higher action, you can easily raise the string height with the adjustable tune-o-matic bridge. As it is, this guitar plays lights out and has an inviting feel with a super easy, soft touch.
The pickups have an excellent signal and balance. They are the original Gibson PAF Burst-Buckers and the neck pickup measures 7.74 ohms and the bridge position checks it at 8.15 ohms. The PAF Burst-Buckers are excellent pickups and offer a nice variety for all kinds of playing styles. The harness is mint and the controls function smoothly and quietly. The hardware is super-clean and the bridge/tailpiece look like new also.
This guitar is lots of fun to play. It is super comfortable to play whether on a strap or in your lap. It only weighs 8.53 lbs. so you can forget all about neck/shoulder fatigue. The guitar sounds a lot like a Les Paul-it has a full tone with sweet brilliance and lots of low-end. The chambered body makes it feel lighter than a Les Paul-but it still has all of the resonance and sustain.
This guitar is sure to be a collectible unit soon-there's really nothing like the Midtown in production these days and a Pelham Blue one is super rare! I have seen a Midtown in Pelham Blue before-but never a used one this clean. They typically have lots of wear and check lines, because people want to play them! This one is an exceptional piece.
