2005 Gretsch '57 Reissue 6128 CG Duo Jet Cadillac Green
Here’s a great looking 2005 Gretsch ‘57 Reissue 6128-GC Duo Jet model in original Cadillac Green finish with gold hardware.
I believe this is the first year that they reissued this model and it has all of the classic appointments without the clunky arm-guard which came a few years later.
This guitar is all-original and it has just been professionally set up. It’s ready to go and needs nothing.
The guitar features a set-neck construction and the body is in clean condition, with light evidence of handling. The green finish looks killer with the gold hardware and the paint has a nice gloss that has a vintage look. On the face there are a couple of areas that exhibit minor wear-above the neck joint (there is also a small line check) and below the neck joint on the horn-just above the master volume control knob-see photos. Overall it is really nice. The binding is clean with no issues.
The neck joint is solid and an excellent fitment. The neck itself is straight and smooth and it has what Gretsch calls a vintage V profile. I’d call it a soft V profile-close to a C. It measures .869” deep at the 1st fret and 1.034” at the 12th fret. The tuners all work well and the guitar stays in tune. The gold tuners exhibit slight patina. The headstock and logo both display nicely. The truss rod functions smoothly. The nut measures 1 11/16” wide. The string height is set fairly low for a nice and easy playing experience. It measures .015” at the 1st fret and .055” at the 12th fret.
The fingerboard is clean and the frets have dust been crowned and polished. They are nice and tall and very crisp-see photos. The guitar plays great up and down the fingerboard with zero dead spots. The Dynasonic pickups have a great tone and sound amazing through any quality tube amp. The neck pickup reads 7.80 ohms and the bridge reads 7.85 ohms. All of the controls function smoothly and quietly. The Melitta style bridge is fully adjustable and in great condition-and the Bigsby style “Gretsch” tailpiece functions flawlessly. The gold hardware exhibits slight patina and has a vintage look.
The guitar is fairly lightweight, weighing just 7.73 lbs. it is very comfortable to hold and play.
The Cadillac Green finish is sort of tricky to photograph-as it looks dark in low light and almost emerald in direct sunlight. I’ve taken several photos in various lighting to show this.
The original Gretsch hardcase is included.
