Here is a really clean Martin J-40, which was produced in the year 2000.   This guitar was produced at the Martin factory in Nazareth Pennsylvania, U.S.A.   It is super clean and I can't believe that it is 25-years old.  The guitar is structurally solid with no repairs.  It has a pickup with strap pin-output jack.  It sounds amazing and is all set up, ready to go-it needs nothing.

The body is really clean and the clear finish accentuates the beautiful Blonde Sitka Spruce top.  The top has mild flaming and the grain is extremely consistent throughout.  The sides and back are Indian Rosewood.  They have a beautiful coloring and contrast grain that looks very elegant-see photos.  The binding is solid with no issues.  The pickguard is flat, and the neck joint/neck angle is excellent.  The design features X-bracing on the top and Martin was going for a product that fit between the Jumbo and the Dreadnought.  The body is a tight waisted Jumbo with a Dreadnought depth.  This design came along in 1985 (called the J-40M back then).  It proved to be a popular model as there was nothing else like it.  The Jumbo size provides bass and rich tones combined with the volume and definition of a Dreadnought.

The neck itself is crafted of Mahogany with an ebony fingerboard.  The neck is super straight and really smooth.  This was the first guitar Martin ever produced with the Modified low oval profile neck.  The nut width measures 1.72” wide.  The neck depth measures .817” at the 1st fret and .859”at the 10th fret.  The gold enclosed tuners are super smooth.  The headstock and logo are nice and clean and present excellent fashion.  The Headstock has the 45 style inlays and looks vintage and elegant at the same time!  The ebony fingerboard is super clean and the hexagonal abalone position markers are clean and smooth.  The frets have almost zero wear-see photos.  They are crisp and shiny with no dead spots whatsoever.  The action is low and the guitar plays like butter.  The string height is .010” at the 1st fret and .070" at the 12th fret.

Not only does it play amazingly, but the tone is really exceptional-with rich definition and loads of volume.   The low end of this guitar is just phenomal.

It is nice and comfortable to play-once you pick it up, you won't want to set it down-if you know what I mean.

Original Martin hard case is included.  It is very nice and clean with a couple of light scuffs on the outside-super fresh on the inside.   The guitar comes from a smoke-free/pet-free home; so it smells only like a Martin should...a hint of wood and lemon oil.

This guitar is really in such exceptional condition.  It would make a stellar gift for that special someone who NEEDS a Martin in their life.   That could be you.
