1998 Fender SRV signature artist's series Stratocaster
1998 Fender SRV signature artist's series Stratocaster
Yes! This is a very clean example of the Stevie Ray Vaughn Artist's signature series Stratocater model originally released in 1992. This unit was made at the Fender factory in Corona California, U.S.A. in 1998. It is very solid, in excellent condition and is all original except the pick guard-which was switched to a standard black version-more closely representing Stevie's original Number one.
Based off of Stevie's "Number one" 1959-1962 guitar, the model features many Pre-CBS appointments including the deeply contoured Alder body and beautiful vintage sunburst finish with a maple neck and slab fingerboard and "spaghetti" logo with gold hardware throughout. It's quite a striking guitar. Specific to Stevie's requests, the model received a Poa Ferro fingerboard, left handed 'reverse' tremolo block and Texas Special pickups along with 5-way pickup selector switch.
This guitar is in really nice condition-I can't believe it is already 26 years old. The body is very nicely contoured with soft edges and it is super-comfortable. The finish has a really nice soft gloss and the colors are blended very nicely. There are a couple of tiny chips in the finish near the edge of the side of the guitar-see photos. Overall-it is in amazing condition. The rear vibrato plate is missing. The neck joint is solid and the neck is straight and smooth with no issues. The neck has a big "vintage-oval" profile and it measures .850" deep at the 1st fret and .953" deep at the 12th. The nut measures 1.675" wide-so it is indeed a great size. The tuners all function smoothly and the headstock and logo display excellent. The Steve Ray Vaughn signature is in excellent shape too. The ;fingerboard is super clean and the frets are the original 'jumbo' sized units. The frets received a professional crowning and polishing, the appear near-new condition-see photos. The string hight is set up fairly low for a fast and easy playing experience. It plays like butter up and down the fingerboard. The bridge is fully adjustable so you can also raise the action if that is your thing. The guitar really lends itself to big bends and is perfect for the SRV-guitar fan. The pickups all have an excellent balanced signal and output measures: 6.30 6.30 7.40 ohms in the respective neck, middle and bridge positions.
All of the electronics function smoothly and quietly. The tone is the vintage Stratocaster 'bell' tone that we all know and love-this guitar really sings with a quality tube amplifier.
The guitar is a great weight, it weighs 7.95 lbs so it is very comfortable on a strap or in your lap. it its very fun to play and would make an excellent addition to any guitar collection. comes with original Fender Tweed hard case.
