Here is a super-rare 1998 Epiphone Riviera in its original Turquoise finish. Hard to believe that this guitar is already 26 years old! This guitar was made at the renowned Epiphone Peerless factory in Korea. This factory has a legendary reputation for high-quality craftsmanship. This Riviera features the 60's-style tall skinny headstock and vintage touches throughout. The guitar is all original with the exception of a replaced volume knob. It is in excellent condition and has no breaks or repairs, It is super solid and ready to, it needs nothing.
The hollow body features the block through the middle-just like a Gibson ES-335. The super-rare Turquoise finish is super-clean and shines brilliant. The finish is unfaded and it appears more blue in some light, and more mint green in other light. It is a very striking color for sure. The finish is in excellent condition. The white binding is in excellent condition. The backside is very clean as well. It is obvious that this guitar was both played very little and also cared for very well.
The neck joint is a set-neck construction and an excellent fitment. The neck itself is mahogany with Turquoise finish on the backside. The neck itself is super straight and has a nice smooth feel with no drag. The neck profile is best described as a vintage medium-C. The neck depth measures .876" deep at the 1st fret and .949" deep at the 12th fret. The nut measures 1.58" wide. The tuners are in excellent condition and the turn smoothly. The headstock and logo display excellent. The truss rod turns smoothly with no issues. The rosewood fingerboard is invert clean and the position markers shine nicely. The rosewood has a nice high contrast grain and looks and feels beautiful. The frets have been professionally crowned and polished and appear like-new condition with an excellent height-see photos. The action is set low for an easy and fast playing experience. The bridge is fully adjustable if you prefer a higher action. Currently, the string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and .045" at the 12th fret. The guitar plays with ease up and down the fingerboard. There are no dead spots anywhere.
The hum bucker pickups both have an excellent signal and balanced output. The neck pickup measures 8.53 ohms and the bridge pickup measures 8.73 ohms. The tone is slightly overdriven and very versatile for a wide range of styles. The controls all function smoothly and quietly. The bridge and saddles are in excellent condition. The Frequensator tailpiece is a nice vintage touch. The shorter length adds low end and the longer length adds high brilliance. It works really well.
The guitar has a really comfortable feel. It is well balanced and fairly lightweight-it only weighs 8.17 lbs. It feels nice on a strap or in your lap.
