Here is a vintage 1997 USA Fender Stratocaster California Series model in the best color ever available: Fiesta Red. This amazing unit was constructed at the Fender Factory in Corona California, U.S.A. in 1997. This guitar was purchased new then stored under a bed for all of these years until now. The guitar is very near like-new condition. It is 100% original except the added strap locks...It is set up and ready to go, it needs nothing.
The body features the familiar deep contours front and rear along with the double cutaways. The finish is SUPER-CLEAN! It is a beautiful orange/red and many people consider Fiesta Red to be the ultimate color on a Strat. The paint is super glossy and looks wet. The original finish looks killer-even under the pickguard you can see it looks great.
The neck is super straight and smooth. It has a satin finish that really feels nice. The neck has a modern C shape profile and the nut measures 1.66" wide for excellent string spacing. The neck depth measures .810" at the 1st fret and .870" deep at the 12th fret. The tuners function smoothly. The headstock and logo display excellent. The logo is a throwback to the 1965 style logo with 'Fender' in metallic gold with a black outline. It looks really cool. The maple fingerboard is exceptionally clean. The frets are near-new condition and super crisp-see photos. The action is set low for an easy playing experience. The string height is currently .010" at the 1st fret and .045" at the 12th fret. The guitar plays like butter up and down the fingerboard with a soft touch.
The pickups have an excellent signal and balance. They are the factory Tex-Mex units which are known for their higher output that drives your amp a bit more. They have a tone-especially in the midrange which is often referred to as "Texas Grit". They are Alnico 5 pickups and maintain the bright sparkling highs that are characteristic of Stratocasters. The 5-way switch and all controls function smoothly and quietly. The potentiometers date to the 44th week of 1997. The bridge is clean and fully functional. The vibrato works smoothly.
The guitar is nice and lightweight-so it is lots of fun to play. It only weighs 7.95 lbs. so you can play all night long without any shoulder fatigue. The guitar balances nicely whether on a strap or in your lap. The original Fender form fit hard case is included.
