1990 Gibson J-200 Jumbo Blonde Flamey curly maple
Here is a really striking guitar that sounds just as good as it looks. This 1990 Gibson J-200 has one of the most highly flamed back and sides I have ever seen. The guitar was made at the Gibson factory in Bozeman Montana, U.S.A. Hard to believe it is a 34-year old guitar! It is in excellent condition and sounds incredible, as you would expect. The guitar is set up professionally and ready to go-it needs nothing.
The body and sides are constructed of a highly flamed curly maple and the top is a Sitka spruce variety. The neck is maple also. The top is completely flat with no issues whatsoever. The Jumbo body is super solid with no breaks cracks or repairs. The finish was weather checking here and there-it looks really cool and vintage. There is a slight bit of arm wear in the finish alone the top edge, also pretty minor-see photos. the backside is clean and both the sides and back have a crazy flame to the wood grain that really glows. The neck joint is solid and the neck angle is superb. There is some wear to the finish on the neck heel-it looks to be from a strap-see photos. The neck is super smooth and straight. The neck profile is a Medium-slim C shape. The nut measures 1.744" wide. The neck depth is .803" at the 1st fret and .985" deep at the 12th fret. The original kluson keystone gold plated tuners are all very nice and function smoothly. The headstock and logo display excellent. The rosewood fingerboard is in great condition-with minimal playing wear-see photos. The frets have been leveled, crowned and polished and appear near-new condition-see photos. The crown inlays are bright and in excellent condition. The action is low for an easy and light feel. The string height measures .015" at the 1st fret and .090" at the 12th fret. The guitar has a lot of volume-as you would expect from a Jumbo. tons of low end with brilliant highs and a real nice punch. The guitar does have a pickup also.
The guitar is nice and lightweight for a Jumbo, it only weighs 4.89 lbs.
It is a lot of fun to play and very versatile. This guitar is excellent for singer songwriters-as the scooped mids accompany vocals perfectly. It is just at home on stage as it is in the studio. In fact, these J-200's are some of the best acoustics for the recording-the just sound amazing.
Comes with a form fit hard case the is in decent but worn condition. The case has one latch that has behavioral problems.
