Here is a Vintage 1989 Gibson SG with a serious Punk Rock attitude...It has been in more mosh-pits than I have.  If I think about that too much, I am afraid my hip will spontaneously explode.  On with it...

Some people may look at this guitar and see all of the Rock & Roll wear on the finish and remark "oh-wow, that SG has seen some battle!"  This guitar laughs at them.  Produced at the Gibson factory in Nashville Tennessee in 1989, this SG  has passed the test of time and earned its stripes.  It has wear all over, including scratches chips, dents, dings etc.  Still, it stands ready for battle.  It has been professionally set up and it is ready to go, it needs nothing.

The body is the familiar double cutaway double-beveled SG silhouette and it is a Mahogany-as is the neck.  The finish has lots of wear-see photos.  The backside has even more wear-no doubt from a studded belt and lots of chain adornments...There is a line in the backside near the strap pin-it is stable and does not cause any structural issues-see photos.  The neck joint is a solid and good fitment.   The neck angle is excellent.

The neck itself is a nice slim-tapered C shape with the desirable 1 11/16th width.   It measures 1.68" at the nut.   The neck depth measures .800" at the 1st fret and .941" at the 12th fret.  The neck is nice and straight with a perfectly "broken-in" feel like your favorite pair of jeans.  There is wear on the backside of the neck in the finish-which actually makes it even smoother.  The original "keystone" tuners all function well and the guitar stays in tune great.  The headstock has no breaks, no cracks no repairs-it is solid.  The front of the headstock and logo exhibit loads of the kind of patina you just can't fake-see photos.  The truss rod turns easily and the cover is good.  The Rosewood fingerboard is clean and has a nice soft feel.  The frets have been professionally leveled, crowned and polished and they look really crisp and clean-see photos.  They have a good height for years and years of future rockin' ...

The action is set low for a fast and easy playing experience.  The string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and .050" at the 12th fret.  You can easily raise the action if you prefer something higher-the bridge adjusts easily.  As it is-it plays like butter up and down the fingerboard with zero dead spots.

The pickups both have an excellent signal, the bridge measures 8.29 ohms and the neck measures 7.92 ohms.   They balance very well.  They are some sort of Gibson-type PAF units but I do not know the actual manufacturer.  They do have the correct "patent applied for" stickers on the bottom of them.  They sound nice and warm with a slightly overdriven response.  They sound like the way the guitar looks-if that makes sense.  The knob configuration is volume for each pickup and master tone control.  The potentiometers all function smoothly and quietly.  There are some changed electric components, but they have been replaced with stock-specifications.  The 3-way switch selects between the bridge position and the neck position with the middle position having both pickups on.  The tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece are newer additions, again they are manufacturer's specifications and they are quality units.  They are very clean and function perfectly-see photos.

The guitar is pretty lightweight-it only weighs 7.01 lbs.  It is very comfortable to play and needless to say-this is an on-stage KING!  The guitar is lots of fun to play and you don't have to worry about being careful with the finish-that's already been taken care of.
