YES! Best known as The Def Leppard guitar, as used by Phil Collen both live and in many of the band's early videos including Rock of Ages, Photograph, and Foolin'. This unit is a 1984 edition, Made in Japan. The guitar has all of its original components and it has been professionally set and is ready to play-it needs nothing.
The body wears its original black finish and it is in great condition. The finish shows typical handling evidence with a few small dimples here and there. The rear top 'point' has a mar on the side of the guitar-looks like it was bumped into at some point. There are some minor line scratches and rub marks on the side-see photos. Overall, the lines are crisp and the finish is nice and glossy and looks really nice. The neck joint is solid with no issues.
The neck is super smooth and straight as an arrow. The truss rod functions smoothly. The nut measures 1.65" wide and the fingerboard has a really nice, flat-ish radius. The neck profile is best described as a modern U shape. The neck depth measures .820" at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th fret. The tuners all function smoothly. The headstock and logo both display nicely with a touch of patina. The rosewood fingerboard is clean and has a nice soft and smooth feel. The frets have been professionally leveled, crowned and polished and they have an excellent height. They appear near new condition-see photos. The action has been set low for a fast and easy playing experience. The current string height is .010" at the 1st fret and .040" at the 12th fret. The guitar plays super nice with a very soft touch. It is really easy to play. There are no dead spots anywhere. It is a shredding machine. The action can be raised if you prefer a higher action.
The pickups all have an excellent signal. They are the original "Super-70" units. The neck position measures 8.83 ohms, the middle measures 8.85 ohms and the bridge position measures 8.86 ohms. At some point, a different pickup was in the bridge position and there is a sliver of 'clearancing-evidence' on the inside edge of the pickup cavity. The original pickup ring mount covers it-so it is not an issue-see photos. All of the pickup rings have the 3 pickup mount holes on the bass-side and single center-mount hole on the treble side. The wiring harness and potentiometers all appear original and are in good condition. The pickups sound great and when coupled with any quality tube amp, they drive the signal with authority. The tone is crunchy even in clean-amp mode. It sounds full with a nice sparkly brilliance. The original powerocker bridge works smoothly and perfectly. Original term arm swings freely and works perfect.
The guitar sits nicely in your lap and feels great on a strap. The original Ibanez V-shaped strap pins are present and in excellent condition. The guitar weighs 8.85 lbs. -similar to a modern Stratocaster as far as weight goes, but it feels lighter-probably due to the shape. Original case is included.
