Here is a super-clean vintage 1978 Fender Precision Bass in beautiful Tri-color Sunburst finish. It is 100% original and very nice. It was produced at the regional Fender factory in Fullerton California, U.S.A. and the original owner has always taken the best care of it-as you can see. There is minimal handling evidence-see photos. The bass is set up and ready to play-it needs nothing.e body is super clean and has nice contours. When you pick it up, you immediately feel how lightweight and comfortable it is. The color is bright with a minor fade in the near the arm area. The finish remains very glossy and well defined. The back is clean and presents as nice as it can. The neck joint is a solid fitment.
The neck is super straight with no issues. It has a nice smooth feel and has the classic beefy vintage C profile. The neck measures 1.64" wide at the nut. The neck depth measures .912" at the 1st fret and 1.007" at the 12th-exactly what you would want in a P-Bass! The tuners are clean and turn smoothly. The bass stays in tune perfectly. The headstock and logo both display excellent-see photos. The fingerboard is very clean and the frets are crisp, smooth and shiny and look near-new condition. The action is low for an easy playing experience-it has a very soft touch. The string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and .075" at the 12th fret. The action is easily adjustable with the bridge-if you should want a higher action for more prominent tone. The bass plays very nicely up and down the fingerboard with no issues. It is a lot of fun to play.
The pickups have an excellent signal and measure 10.61 ohms. The bass rumbles as you would expect. It has the quintessential P-Bass deep tone that projects like only a Fender does. The controls turn smoothly and quietly. The potentiometers have 1978 date codes from the 49th week. The bridge is clean and fully functional. The pickguard is nice and flat in also in excellent condition.
This bass is fairly lightweight for a Precision Bass-it only weighs 9.00 lbs on the nose! It is very well balanced and the light weight makes it super comfortable to wield. You can play it all night long with no neck fatigue-it's awesome!
There may be other vintage 1978 Precision Basses out there-but I don't see any that compare to the cleanliness and freshness of this one. You know what to do.
