This 1973 Gibson SG is 100% original and very clean condition.  It is really nice and a collector's grade guitar.  The guitar was produced at the original Gibson factory in Kalamazoo,Michigan, U.S.A.  The guitar is has no breaks, cracks or repairs.  It is set up and ready to play-it needs nothing.

The body is a beautiful piece of mahogany with cherry red stain. The neck is also mahogany and a matching cherry red stain.  The finish is glossy and bright, very fresh-it looks really impressive.  The edges of the body are nice and crisp and the contours are clean.  The neck joint is solid and an excellent fitment.

The neck itself is straight and smooth.  The neck has a nice medium vintage C-shape profile.  The nut measures 1.59" wide.  The neck depth measures .820" at the 1st fret and 1.005" at the 12th fret.  The tuners all function smoothly.  The headstock and logo display excellent.  The truss rod functions smoothly.  The fingerboard is super clean and the block markers shine.  The frets have been professionally leveled, crowned and polished and appear near-new condition-see photos. The action is low and the guitar plays easily with a light touch.  The string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and .055" at the 12th fret.  The guitar plays good up and down the fingerboard with zero dead spots.

The pickups are the original coveted "Tar Back" humbuckers and they sound amazing.  Designed by Bill Lawrence, the model name was actually the "Super Humbucker".  They are very hot pickups that drive your amp like crazy.  Think Randy Rhodes or those early U2 live tones from Edge's Explorer.  Nothing really sounds like them.  They have an excellent signal and measure 5.12 ohms in the neck position and 7.66 ohms in the bridge position.  With any quality amp, these pickups scream.  The potentiometers all function smoothly and quietly.  The harmonica bridge is in good condition and the vibrato tailpiece functions smoothly.  The pickguard is nice and flat.

The guitar is super lightweight; it only weighs 6.94 lbs.  It is very comfortable and lots of fun to play.  Comes with original Gibson hardcase and hangtag.
