Not all great guitars have tons of wear-but all guitars with tons of wear are always great players, it seems. This one is no different.
Behold: The mighty 1971 Fender Mustang Bass! This vintage Fender Bass was produced at the original Fender factory in Fullerton California, U.S.A. The Bass is solid and plays feels and sounds great. It has tons of honest wear all over it-and looks absolutely killer. It is all original with the exception of one saddle screw. It has an aged repro pickguard-the original is in the original Fender hard case.
The body wears its 3-color sunburst finish with gusto! There is wear all over the body and neck also. See photos for details...The neck joint is solid and a great fitment. The neck itself is straight and smooth. There are pecks here all over the body and backside of the neck. The neck has a nice broken in feel. The nut measures 1.58" wide. The neck depth measures .858" at the 1st fret and 1.020" at the 12th fret. The tuners all function. The headstock and logo display awesome with tons of vintage flavor. The rosewood fingerboard is clean and the original frets are nice and bright with a crisp flat top and no low spots. As much as this bass was handled, the fingerboard and frets were very well cared for over the years. The action is low and the bass guitar plays like butter. It is so smooth and easy to play. The action is low, and the string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and .060" at the 12th fret.
The original grey bobbin pickups have an excellent signal and measures 9.54 ohms. The controls all function smoothly and quietly. The potentiometers date to the 10th week of 1971. The bridge is functional. The aged repro pickguard is nice and flat and looks perfect.
The bass is super lightweight and very comfortable-it only weighs 7.87 lbs! That is lighter than most Stratocasters. Forget about neck fatigue-You can play all night long and still feel fresh. The bass has a nice resonance that you can feel as soon as you pick it up and play it...then you won't want to put it back down...
