1967 Fender Coronado Bass II Sunburst
1967 Fender Coronado Bass II Sunburst
Here's a really fabulous vintage Fender Bass for your consideration. This Coronado Bass II model was made at the original Fender factory in Fullerton, California U. S. A. in June of 1967. The bass guitar is 100% original and has date stamps and employee inspection stamps present. The finish is bright and very colorful-it looks great and is nicely accentuated by the Black headstock and gold decal. Just looks like the coolest vintage hollow body bass ever! It is professionally set up and ready to play-it needs nothing.
The body is solid with no creaks or rattles or repairs of any kind. The finish is in very good condition with normal handling evidence. There are a few marks on the side but nothing major-see photos. The color is really nice and brilliant. The binding is solid both on the front and the back. There are a few light mars in the finish on the backside where the bass sat on a coil cord at some point. Looks nice and authentic vintage-no one will mistake this one for some sort of new guitar. The neck joint is sold. There are factory employee stamps along with the date stamp on the end of the neck. This bass is a 1967 build and it has the weird 1967-only 'cross' paint stick shadow. It's a rare feature as 1967 builds are known to be super rare-something extra fun to enjoy if you are a Fender history nut like myself. The neck has two factory shims front and rear-which lift it off of the body plane and presents a thin relief between the neck and body. The joint is totally solid and the neck angle is excellent.
The neck itself is super straight and very smooth. It has the classic vintage "U" profile and measures .857" deep at the 1st fret and .940" deep at the 12th fret. The nut is the standard 1.62" wide version. The tuners all function and look great with just a touch of patina. The chrome is nice and reflective. The headstock and logo display very pronounced and excellent. I love the black headstock with Gold lettering and Gold Fender logo-they should have done this treatment to all of their guitars in my opinion. The Rosewood fingerboard is super clean and has a fantastic grain and beauty. The pearloid position markers are clean and shine nicely. The binding is in excellent condition and looks really snazzy. The frets have been professionally leveled, crowned and polished. They appear close to new condition-see photos. There are no dead spots anywhere. The action is set low for an easy playing experience. The string height is .015" at the 1st fret and .085" at the 12th fret. It plays fabulous up and down the fingerboard.
The pickups both have an excellent signal and the output measures 10.64 ohms for the bridge pickup and 12.14 ohms for the neck pickup. The switch and potentiometers all function smoothly and quietly. The bridge is fully adjustable if you wish to raise the action to a higher level. The tailpiece is clean and the "F" Fender logo displays nicely.
The Bass has a great feel and of course it is very lightweight. It only weighs 6.40 lbs. so you can forget about shoulder fatigue-you can play this baby all night long and feel great. It's awesome on a strap or in your lap. being a hollow-boy, it is also really fun to play on the couch with no amp. once you pick it up-you won;t want to put it down... its that great.
Comes with original chipboard case. The case has wear but still functions for protection.
