Yes! Here is one of the most desirable vintage guitars out there: The 1963 Fender Stratocaster. Easily the best and most consistent production year, 1963 was simply the pinnacle. They had a line up of excellent, well-experienced employees, the production techniques were honed down to a science, the instruments had all of the best features and the consistency of the quality control was near perfect. I've never had a 1963 Fender guitar or bass that wasn't great. We present this Stratocaster that was produced right at the beginning of the 1963 model year. It was made at the original Fender factory in Fullerton California, U.S.A. and has a factory "January 63" ink stamp on the end of the neck. The guitar has ALL of the desirable features you would want on a Strat: original Spaghetti logo decal, small headstock, Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, clay dots, shapely contoured body front and back, green pickguard, staggered-pole black bobbin pickups, 3-way switch, original style trim block-plate-and saddles and of course: that beautiful nitrocellulose 3-color sunburst. We have gone through this guitar very carefully and it appears to be completely original with the possible exception of a refret. You would never know just by looking at it-the frets are the correct size and there is no evidence of any fret removal/installation. The fingerboard appears slightly thinner near the nut. It's possible that the guitar is 100% original, but we always disclose as much as we can find. At any rate-The guitar is super solid with untouched solder joints and all-original finish, hardware, electronics, components, etc. It sounds amazing and feels so good. It is set up and ready to go-it needs nothing.
The body features nice deep contours and smooth lines. The original finish shines bright and the colors are very nice. There is typical handling evidence including line checking, nicks etc. The backside has more wear than the front. The original pickguard is nice and flat with excellent coloring. It has the typical shrink-line crack between the outside edge and the neck pickup adjustment screw. The neck slot is solid.
The neck itself is smooth and straight and feels really nice. It has that killer vintage C-shape profile and measures 1.67" wide at the nut. The neck depth measures .798" at the 1st fret and .989" at the 12th fret. The tuners all function smoothly and the headstock and logo display excellent with perfect vintage vibe. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is clean and feels nice and smooth. The fingerboard has a great flat radius which makes for a killer playing experience. The action is low and the string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and ..050" at the 12th...It plays like butter ups and down the fingerboard. The frets appear close to new condition-and as previously mentioned they look like original frets and they may be just that.
The pickups sound incredible-as you would expect. They all have an excellent signal- measuring 5.50 ohms in the neck position, 6.06 in the middle and 5.62 ohms in the bridge position. The guitar has the quintessential bright chime and Fender "bell" tone that we all love. The potentiometers date to the 2nd week of 1963-making this one an early example. The original switch functions nicely and the wiring harness is beautiful-see photos. Under the pickguard-all of the original routes look like prefect text book factory examples and the original metal shielding plate is very nice. Bridge and vibrato function great.
This guitar only weighs 7.65 lbs. It is nice and lightweight and feels very comfortable whether on a strap or in your lap. The original brown tolex case is nice, and included-of course. This is really one killer piece to add to your collection. It is an amazing playing instrument, sits in your lap just right-and sounds and looks perfect. Feel free to call and ask any questions.
