1962 Fender Jaguar Olympic White 100% original early version
1962 Fender Jaguar Olympic White 100% original early version
Yes! Here is one of the earliest production Jaguars that I've had in long long time. This unit has a 3-62 pencil date on the neck. Other early-model Jaguar features include the flat pole piece pickups (sound hotter than the later staggered pole versions) -the 'slab' Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and the original Acrylic lacquer Olympic White paint with matching headstock. Made in early 1962 at the original Fender factory in Fullerton, California, U.S.A. This is a very special piece that is 100% original and it is in very nice condition. It has been professionally set up and it is ready to play-it needs nothing. Pre-CBS, Top-of the line 1st year early production model, best quality era of Fender guitars ever, Custom Color-this guitar checks ALL of the boxes.
The body has very soft edges and deep contours-just like you would expect from any 1962 Fender guitar. The Olympic White finish shows a minimal of toning and looks absolutely killer. There is slight handling evidence here and there-see photos. The neck slot is the proper pre-paint stick generation, and the original 'nail holes' are also present. The neck joint is excellent.
The neck is super-smooth and super-straight. The truss rod functions normally. The back of the neck has wear down to the wood-it feels as comfortable as your favorite pair of broken-in blue jeans. The nut measures 1.50" and the neck profile is the classic vintage-C shape. The neck depth measures .819" at the 1st fret and .981" at the 12th fret. The original single-line kluson tuners all function and the guitar stays in tune very well. The headstock and logo display absolutely awesome. Is there anything cooler than a matching Fender headstock? The answer is no. The logo is the early version and looks perfect with just the right touch of patina. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is indeed the thick "slab board" version that is so coveted for its softness and velvety feel. The clay dots are clean look great. The frets have been professionally leveled, crowned and polished and appear close to new condition-see photos. The action is set low for a fast and easy playing experience. The string height is currently .010" at the 1st fret and .050" at the 12th fret. The guitar plays smoothly up and down the fingerboard with zero dead spots.
The pickups both have an excellent signal and output. The neck position reads 6.69 ohms and the bridge position read 6.78 ohms. The pickups sound amazing and have the quintessential Fender "bell" chime and sparkly brilliance. The pots date to the 13th week in 1962 and the whole wiring harness is super nice with unbroken solder joints. The beautiful tortoise shell pickguard is nice and flat with no cracks. It shows a minimal of shrinkage and looks great. The controls all function properly and the bridge and vibrato work smoothly as well.
The offset body design makes for a very comfortable guitar. It is also relatively light-it weighs 8.19 lbs. Comes with original Fender hardcase in Brown Tolex!
This isn't just your everyday "Custom Color" (hah!) Olympic White Jaguar-The early production features and 100% originality coupled with the remarkable playability make this guitar beyond special and extremely collectible. The word 'rare' gets used a lot when it comes to vintage guitars-and this one is no exception, except I'm going to place another adjective in front...this is one Unusually Rare vintage Fender guitar.
