2005 Gibson Custom Shop '62 ES-330-TDC
This is a really beautiful 2005 Gibson Custom Shop '62 ES-330-TDC. There is some sort of previous repair on the back side of the neck-it appears to be related to the truss rod. I've seen similar issues like this on numerous Rickenbacker guitars, and in those cases-the truss rod was over-tightened by some person that thought they knew how to work on guitars. Bummer. My full disclosure is: the guitar was damaged, sort of repaired, but deserves to be repaired correctly. In the meantime, it is available for you in its current state at a discounted price. It is sold "as-is" ...That means no-returns are available with this unit.
The guitar still functions and plays good. Looks killer other than the previously mentioned issue. The guitar is 100% original other than the damaged area. The guitar was made at the Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis Tennessee U.S.A.
The top, sides and back are a beautiful Cherry Red with cream binding providing a nice compliment. The finish is really clean and glossy and shows off the contoured top nicely. The neck joint is an excellent fitment and the neck angle is perfect. The neck has a nice smooth feel-except the area near the headstock-which isn't bad-but it is slightly noticeable. The nut measures 1.70" wide and has the nice wide feel of a vintage 1950's Gibson guitar. The neck profile is best described as a vintage U-shape and measures .840" at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th fret. The area where the damage is best described as: a coupe of linear splits with some sort of overspray around the headstock base. The overspray is a thin band that does not go into the Gibson Custom Shop logo.
The tuners all function smoothy and the guitar stays in tune. The front of the headstock and logo display excellent. The rosewood fingerboard is clean and beautiful. The frets appear like new condition with nice crips profiles. I would call it next to zero-wear see photos. The block markers and black P-90 pickup covers would only be available together in the early production of 1962. The binding is in excellent condition. The action is low for an easy playing experience. There is a slight bow to the neck however the guitar plays decent enough with no plink outs or dead spots. The string height currently measures .010" at the 1st fret and .055" at the 12th fret.
The pickups both have an excellent signal and classic P-90 tone that we all know and love. The neck output measures 8.04 ohms and the bridge measures 8.06 ohms. The controls all function smoothly and quietly. The bridge and tailpiece are in excellent condition.
The guitar is lots of fun to play and sounds great with nay quality tube amp.
It is very lightweight-only weighs 6.60lbs.! Say goodbye to shoulder fatigue-this baby feels great on a strap or in your lap. The guitar is super comfortable and easy to wield.
There is no paperwork with the guitar as the original case was lost. A Gibson 'Memphis' hardcase is included for protection.
