Here is a real cool vintage 1979 Gibson ES-335-TD in original Walnut finish. This guitar is solid with no breaks, no cracks, no repairs. The original Trapeze tailpiece was removed and the stop tailpiece was added in the correct spot. The bridge pickup has been changed to a classic high output Seymour Duncan JB and the original Gibson high output superhumbucker aka "tarback" is in the neck position. The front coil tap switch has been bypassed. The body is solid and the finish is nice and dark with typical signs of handling evidence: small pecks here and there and various light rubs etc.-see photos. The neck angle is great and the neck joint is solid with no issues.
The neck itself is straight and smooth. The truss rod functions. The neck has a classic Gibson slim taper profile. It has the 1 11/16" wide nut. The neck depth measures .766" at the 1st fret and .956" at the 12th fret. The tuners function nice and the guitar stays in tune. Th e headstock and logo display excellent with a nice touch of patina. The rosewood fingerboard is clean and smooth. The frets are nice and crisp and have an excellent height and width. The action is set low for an easy playing experience. The string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and .055" at the 12th fret. The guitar plays great up and down the fingerboard.
Th pickups both have an excellent signal and the guitar sounds nice and hot! it really cooks. The JB in the bridge is perfect for driving your amp and the neck position sounds smooth and full. I believe the volume potentiometers were replaced years ago with proper spec pieces-I believe the tone potentiometers are original. They all function smoothly and quietly. The original pickguard was removed long ago.
The guitar is a great player's piece and sounds and plays as good as it looks. A full sized used aftermarket case is included-one latch is missing but the case functions fine.
