Here is a rare one...a vintage 1973 Guild S-100 Polara model with factory "Nature Boy" carved top.  The guitar is 100% original and in excellent condition.  There are no breaks, cracks or repairs-the guitar is set up and ready to play-it needs nothing.

The guitar was made at the original Guild Factory in Hoboken New Jersey, U.S.A. in early 1972.   The potentiometer dates the guitar to the last week of January, 1972-which makes this an early production unit.   This S-100 model features a beautiful one piece slab of Honduran mahogany with carved relief and Oak leaves motif.  The body is also Double-contoured with another contour on the backside for maximum comfort and weight reduction.  The neck is also a one-piece Honduran mahogany construction and it is joined with the body as a set-neck design.  The architecture yields an incredible platform for resonance and sustain.   If you've ever played one of these vintage Polaris-you are already aware of their superior tonal qualities, and if you haven't-well, you need to get your hands on one.

The body is in great shape and the finish glows nicely with an exquisite medium-light value of caramel.  There are some small line checks visible in the clear lacquer finish giving it the perfect vintage vibe.  There are some signs of handling here and there-nothing out of the norm-see photos.   The neck joint is solid and an excellent fitment.  The neck itself is super straight and has a nice smooth feel.  It has a vintage tapered shape and the profile is best described as a Slim-C profile-similar to an early 1960's SG but a bit slimmer.   It measures .778" deep at the 1st fret and .860" at the 12th fret.  The nut  measures 1.65" wide (1 11/16") so it has a really nice feel and excellent string spacing.  The tuners all function and the Headstock and Logo display excellent.  The fingerboard is clean and in excellent condition.  The frets have been crowned and polished and exhibit zero wear, they look as near new condition as can be-see photos.  The string height is set fairly low for an easy and fast playing experience.  The action is fully adjustable if you wish to raise the height for your preference.  Currently, the string height is .010" at the 1st fret and .050" at the 12th fret.  The Guitar plays lights out up and down the fingerboard.   It is very easy to play and has zero string buzz and no dead spots.   The pickups have an excellent signal and the neck output is 7.53 ohms with the bridge output coming in at 7.93 ohms.  The electronics all function smoothly and both of the factory switches function as designed.  The pickups have an incredibly full tonal range and the phase switch offers a great option for slicing through the mix on solos.

The guitar only weighs 6.98 lbs. so it is very lightweight and easy to hold.  No neck fatigue with this one-it is comfortable all night long.   It has a great balance too-it feels great in your lap or on a strap.

This guitar also comes with its original hard case.

This Guild is from the company's best quality time period and is an excellent piece for any collection.   It is a studio monster and would be just as killer on stage.   A great vintage value and just an outstanding player.
