1965-fender-stratocaster-3-color-sunburst-100-original-with-super-vibe
1965 Fender Stratocaster 3-color Sunburst 100% original with SUPER-VIBE!

This 1965 Fender Stratocaster has a killer-vibe to go along with a great feel and THE tone you want and expect from a '65 Strat! It is an L-plate and it was produced at the original Fender factory in Fullerton, California U.S.A. sometime in the fall of 1965. Draggin' Guitars has carefully inspected and fully verified this guitar, it is 100% original. It has been professionally set up and is ready to go-it needs nothing.

On with it!

The body is the familiar double cutaway Stratocaster silhouette with front and rear contours. The original 3-color sunburst finish looks awesome and has a perfect slightly toned look, with a beautiful shine and soft gloss that only vintage finishes have. There is light handling evidence here and there-it is obvious that some took very good care of this Stratocaster. The backside is in the same condition and you can see the slightest 'toning' of the yellow with the vibrato plate removed (see photos). There are some minute line-checks in the clear coat here and there-just enough to look really cool. The neck joint is an excellent fitment, and the neck slot presents perfectly with the requisite paint stick shadow. There is a thin metal heel-shaped neck shim at the base of the neck slot. It can easily be removed and the guitar spec'd out identical either way-so we just left it in there.

The neck is smooth and straight and has a killer feel. The profile is a perfect vintage C-shape with a depth of .802" at the first fret and .939" at the 21th fret. The neck is stamped August 1965 with a B nut width. The nut measures exactly 1.652" wide-so it is slightly wider than average (YAY!)... The original tuners function smoothly and the guitar holds perfect tune. The headstock and cool "transition" logo display nicely with a vintage patina and perfect vibe. The Gold metallic "Fender" part of the logo is in excellent shape-parts of the "stratocaster" lettering and some of the patent numbers have flaked-see photos. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is in excellent condition. It has a really nicely figured grain and looks inviting. Indeed, the fingerboard is incredible soft and smooth. The frets have been leveled, crowned and polished and appear near new condition-see photos. They have an excellent height too. The action is set low for an easy and enjoyable playing experience. The string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and .055" at the 12th fret. The Strat plays lights out up and down the fingerboard. The string spacing is well above average-it feels amazing!

The pickups all have an excellent signal and balance. The quintessential "bell" sound is present and resonates with the legendary Stratocaster tone you would expect out of a 1965 Stratocaster. The pickups measure 5.86 ohms in the neck, 5.21 in the middle and 5.82 in the bridge. The neck and bridge pickup are dated 9-28-65 with Fender employee "BS" initials and the middle position pickup is also dated 9-28-656 with "CA" initials. The Neck pickup also has a number "3" production code on it. The original 3-way switch is present and happy along with the rest of the original wiring harness. The controls function smoothly and quietly. The pots are all original Stackpole units dated 32nd week of 1965 (mid-august)... The original and super-sexy .1X50V Red Ceramic tone capacitor is clean and happy. The body has the typical large "S" signifying "sunburst" as well as the letters "UMI" in the neck pickup cavity. The original Kaiser shielding plate has an employee assembly initial "LM"in red marker along with a numeral "1". The pickguard is nice and flat and in very good condition. The original bridge, trem-block, saddles and arm are all present and in great condition.

The guitar is lots of fun to play and super-comfortable. It only weighs 7.36 lbs so it is very lightweight for a Stratocaster and easy to wield. This guitar is excellent for the studio or stage-it has just enough vibe to be at home anywhere and that includes right by your side on the couch! It looks, sounds and plays excellent. For the bonus round, the original music store hang tag is included along with the original polishing cloth. Of course, the original Fender hardshell case is also included for protection and further excitement.

https://dragginguitars.com/products/1965-fender-stratocaster-3-color-sunburst-100-original-with-super-vibe
